Fully automated biology for everyone.

Trilobio puts advanced, reliable automation within reach of every lab, so biologists can spend more time doing biology and less time setting up, integrating, troubleshooting, and redoing their experiments.

Built for Biologists by Biologists.

As biologists, we’ve seen it all. Expensive, bespoke automation that is not built for flexible research and discovery, or cheap and unreliable automation that you cannot trust when you need it the most. This is not a tradeoff that we think is fair for biologists to make.
Trilobio offers a new way forward: Advanced automation, zero integration work, simplified research design, excellent reliability, and an affordable price point. It might seem like a dream, but that’s just because we built our dream lab automation platform for you.

Introducing the Trilobot

The Trilobot is the foundation of our platform. It performs all the physical tasks required to execute your research and is designed to make a biologist’s life easier. Not only is the Trilobot fast and reliable, it’s also the first lab robot that seamlessly changes between tools, fully calibrates itself, its tools, and all labware, and collaborates with other Trilobots to increase your throughput.

Arm

The robotic arm is fast, accurate, and precise, enabling our platform to execute a broad range of biological tasks. It can access the tool changer, all 16 deck slots, and extends outside of the enclosure to integrate with other Trilobots or 3rd party systems.

Tool Changer

Each Trilobot can store up to eight completely different lab tools, effectively making every Trilobot eight lab devices in one. Our tool changing capability seamlessly swaps tools on the robotic arm and eliminates the need to integrate various lab devices with code. Simply add a tool to the tool rack and the Trilobot can start using it immediately.

Robot & Labware Autocalibration

No more training robots, writing custom code, calibrating the robotic elements, using calipers to measure your plasticware, or jogging the pipette to find the bottom of a well. The Trilobot automates all calibration. Simply click the autocalibrate robot and autocalibrate labware buttons in Trilobio OS.

Intermodular

Scale up research instantly by snapping two or more Trilobots together without custom integration work. Once your fleet is connected, the Trilobots can hand off materials to each other to increase throughput or parallelize your research across the fleet. Anything that fits on a deck slot can be passed between Trilobots.

HEPA Filter & Deck

Each Trilobot can be fitted with a HEPA filter to create a sterile research environment. The deck has 16 slots in the SBS/ANSI/SLAS format that can stack up to four standard plates each. They can also hold deep well plates, pipette tip boxes, troughs, heating/cooling blocks, and more. Each deck slot has electrical power and a data connection to easily add Trilobio modules. Deck slots can be removed to make room for other devices you want to install.

Cameras Coming Soon

The robotic arm and the enclosure are equipped with cameras to inspect your research and the tool actions in real-time. See what is happening any time. If something doesn’t go as planned, explore and debug with the video footage.

The right tools for the job

The Trilobot robotic arm can interface with a limitless number of lab tools that attach and detach through our industry-first tool changing interface. Each Trilobot can hold up to eight tools in its tool racks, and switch between them automatically as needed by your research protocol. No manual integration, no manual calibration, no manual switching of tools. Just add your tool to the rack, tell the Trilobot it is there, and let the research begin.
Coming Soon...

Perfect Gripper

Quickly and safely moving materials around your lab automation platform is critical. The Trilobio “Perfect Gripper” can grab both underneath and the sides of whatever you put onto the Trilobot deck. When grabbing underneath, our unique gripper design prevents any plates or other materials from being dropped, even if you unplug the Trilobot. By grabbing by the side, our gripper can grab half-skirted plates, lid or de-lid your plates, and also insert materials directly into your 3rd party lab equipment.

Single Channel Pipette

Single-channel pipette tools are available in P20, P300 or P1000 volumes. Single-channel pipette tools are compatible with SBS/ANSI/SLAS plates and a variety of tubes and other plasticware, giving you research design and execution flexibility. With our highly precise robotic arm, our single-channel P20 pipette tool is compatible with 384 well plates.

Eight-Channel Pipette

Eight-channel pipette tools are available in P20, P300 or P1000 volumes. Eight-channel pipette tools are compatible with SBS/ANSI/SLAS plates and a variety of other plasticware, giving you research design and execution flexibility. With our highly precise robotic arm, our eight-channel P20 pipette tool is compatible with 384 well plates.

Autocalibration Probe

The autocalibration probe, in combination with advanced force sensors in the robotic arm, autocalibrates the robot and deck slots. The force sensor enables autocalibration of plasticware with a pipette tip. The autocalibration probe also calibrates the position of any connected Trilobots. Simply connect the robots, initiate autocalibration, and then scale up your research.

Tube Manipulator Coming Soon

The tube manipulator opens, closes, and rearrays a wide variety of screw cap tubes.

Trilobio OS: the software that makes it all possible

Trilobio OS is no-code lab automation software powered by algorithms that eliminate hours of protocol design time. Biologists click to add, adjust, and rearrange the higher-level steps of their research (like transfer, dilute, serial dilute, aliquot, and more) without having to specify which tools, plasticware, or plate wells to use for each step. Instead, Trilobio OS manages all these details for you along with error checking, tool management, labware compatibility, materials inventory and more.

Once the protocol is designed, Trilobio OS automatically lays out all of your samples in a test environment and gives you the opportunity to assign constraints or override the algorithm to your specifications. In total, this makes designing even the most complicated protocols a fast, intuitive, and flexible experience.

Protocol Designer

Design protocols by adding steps just like you would write in a lab notebook by setting actions and parameters. Modifying research protocols is easy. Simply click and drag steps, add new ones, or modify parameters without having to rewrite upstream and downstream steps. Gone are the days of writing thousands of lines of code, specifying frustratingly minute details of your protocol, and rewriting your code to make even a simple change.

Automatic Layout

Trilobio OS eliminates the need to specify all details beyond the higher-level steps of your research protocol. Once your protocol is designed, click over to the automatic layout views to see where our algorithms have determined your samples should be stored. You can override anything you’d like, including plasticware selection, sample location constraints, and more, with the comfort of error-checking to ensure your changes don’t cause an issue.

Custom Pipetting and Labware

Every experiment is different, and Trilobio OS allows users to customize pipetting parameters and labware to support your unique research. Users can add custom labware and either autocalibrate its dimensions or specify them manually. Set custom pipetting parameters for total control over liquid handling by combining instructions for X/Y/Z position, liquid volumes, pipette movement speed, and aspiration/dispensing rates. We’ve built in a simulator so you can explore exactly how the pipetting will occur within your labware library.

LIMS & Fleet Management

Trilobio OS has a fully integrated LIMS system that tracks all tools, labware, devices, materials and Trilobots within your fleet. It makes sure that you always have enough materials and labware to execute your research and then ensures you know the exact state of everything inside your Trilobot when the research is complete. Fleet management gives full operational insight into and control over your Trilobot fleet: see robot status, apply a full e-stop, add/remove tools, autocalibrate, and more with a few clicks.
