Automated protein purification
The Trilobot fully automates protein purification, from cell lysis through elution.
Automating protein purification on Trilobots
Trilobio supports bead-based and column-based protein purifications. While a manual purification run takes roughly two hours, on a single Trilobot, that same run can be fully automated and process 800+ samples a day. Grow your Trilobot fleet, and that number scales past 3,000+ samples a day. Whatever your process looks like, the Trilobio platform is built with flexibility to support it.

Protein purification that scales with your lab
Whether you're purifying a handful of samples or scaling up to thousands, Trilobio grows with your lab and supports a range of techniques.
What is protein purification?
Protein purification is the process of isolating a target protein from a complex mixture using its size, charge, or binding affinity to separate it from everything else. The workflow moves through five steps: lysing cells, binding the target protein to magnetic beads or a column matrix, washing and treating (sometimes repeated), eluting, and running QC to confirm purity and concentration. Biologists rely on this process to move from a crude cell lysate to a protein pure enough for downstream analysis or use in a larger workflow.
Challenges of manual protein purification
Benefits of automated protein purification
Built-In Reliability
Consistent liquid handling at every step means data quality reflects your biology, not variability introduced at the bench.
Full Walkaway
Load your samples and walk away. Trilobot runs multi-step protocols unattended—no babysitting required.
More Samples, Less Time
The Trilobot runs unattended through multi-step protocols, reducing hands-on time across high-volume sample preps.
Run-to-Run Reproducibility
Every sample follows the same protocol to the same specification—no operator variation between technicians or across runs.
End-to-End on One Platform
More of your workflow runs on one platform, so you spend less time managing instrument handoffs and more time on the science.
Flexible by Design
Swap tools, scale volumes, change formats—the Trilobot adapts to your workflow, not the other way around.
Throughput That Keeps Up
As capacity needs grow, Trilobot scales with them without the prep becoming the bottleneck.
Starts at $25k/year
Full lab automation starting at $25k/year—less than most labs spend on a single liquid handler.
More Data Points Per Plate
Because the system is integratable with your assay setup, every well can run a different condition instead of duplicating one, giving you more usable data out of each plate.
Lower Contamination Risk
Every Trilobiot is enclosed and HEPA-filtered, keeping your samples sterile from start to finish.

questions
Explore how protein purification automation works, what makes it different with the Trilobot, and how Trilobio transforms everyday biology workflows.
Automating protein purification starts at $25k/year with Trilobio.
The Trilobot fully automates the protein purification workflow, including lysing cells, binding your target protein to magnetic beads or a column matrix, washing and treating (repeating as many times as your protocol calls for), and eluting. QC can be orchestrated through integrated instruments.
Trilobio supports magnetic bead-based binding with an on-deck magnet and column-based binding with dedicated column tips. You can easily define new labware with Trilobio OS.
No. Protocols are designed in Trilobio OS using biology-level language. Our team also provides onboarding support to get your specific purification protocol running quickly.
Most protein purification automation systems run into the six figures. The Trilobot starts at $25k/year and is built for ease and flexibility.
